I loved Lincoln Logs as a kid, this seems to be a knockoff brand

A Blue Christmas with a Blue Christmas tree

That picture demonstrated the full capability of color snapshots! tongue.gif

Marilyn and Joe might be twin siblings.

Classic names from the 50's and early 60's, by the way.

In the blue Christmas tree picture, things like that egg carton on top of the TV being used as a base for the flowers might seem a little weird, but at the same time seems EXACTLY what we'd expect at an aunt's house when we visit during the holidays.

OK it's time for my annual look at those warm and wonderful, yet at times tacky Christmas pics from the 1960's.

Lets begin with an office Christmas party that used balloons as the major decoration.

Now this tree and apartment give new meaning to simplistic decor

Looks like the men weren't invited to this particular office party.

But the balloons do remind me that there was usually somebody who'd drank too much eggnog and kept taking whiffs of helium from the balloons, because he was quite sure that everybody at the party wanted to hear his hilarious impression of Alvin & the Chipmunks.

Come to think of it, maybe that's why only the women got invited this year. :D

Earlier, the blue Christmas tree reminded me of Elvis' "blue blue blue" Christmas. Hate that song. ;)

I see what looks like a train transformer (red & blank handles) on the floor, but no train tracks.

The cardboard fireplace is a rude (to say nothing of painful) welcome for Santa Claus.

Especially after putting up her rabbit ear homing beacon for Rudolph.

SQUARE Lincoln logs. More realistic- just like we saw on Daniel Boone (was a man, was a big man). But what would happen if you got them mixed up with your regular Lincoln logs and tried to fit them together? That's right, it's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. I knew eventually somebody would come up with a real illustration of that saying.

Those silver Christmas trees, with the color wheel, are now VERY collectible and bring a pretty penny.

Blue tricycle too.

The calendar on the wall makes it look almost staged. 'see officer, I was home when the murder occured ! '

I still want to know why the carton of eggs is on the TV? Did mama go running for the only phone in the house with the eggs in her hand?

The vase of flowers was top heavy, so mama cut a hole in an egg carton to use as a stabilization base to hold the vase upright.

I recently bought the DVD of the King Family's Christmas Specials. The 1967 show was so popular it was syndicated and played well into the 70's
