Where's the Fair? film

Recommended Posts

Anyone know anything about this film? The guy who made it posted here a few times. The film has been shown at a few film festivals per their website:

http://www.wheresthefair.com/

There's a review of the film that gives it four stars and a trailer for the film that is, uh, well, I'm not sure what it is-sinister? accusatory?

Any thoughts?

Great trailer!! Hope to see the whole film when it's available. Finally a conspiracy film I will want to watch! Sounds like those in charge took their cue from the Underground Home ....just bury it and forget about it......sad

I apologize for being negative, but this country really has way bigger fish to fry than to worry about being in a World's Fair. In the trailer someone called us the most powerful country in the world. Are we still? Not so sure.

Please, lets keep politics off the forum..too many thoughts will create too many threads ....but to as too thoughts as to why we dont have an interest in world fairs anymore, there may be too many theme parks in the U.S. to make a worlds fair work here, maybe the past fairs lost too much money that in today's economy, will end up costing jobs.I'm sure Microsoft would be pulling out...maybe world fairs had their day and Expos are either too basic or just not worth the effort. I cant see Disney wanting to get in the picture,it would take away from their bottom line. If it is a small world, then the grandiose sized pavilions and elements that made up the previous world fairs got replaced by the quick shots of info available on the web where everything is treated like fast food, in and out. Maybe I'm wrong but politics is a poison that kills, and this site should be steered away from it.

Back to the film itself - it's great to have a discussion of why world's fairs have disappeared from the U.S., but really, are we suffering from a lack of conspiracy-themed videos? "WHO DID IT?" as if there was any one person responsible. Yecchh. Definitely NOT Frontline caliber stuff.

Expo 2015--It's great the U.S. will build a barn and display a vertical farm.. sounds mature!! Where's the kid stuff?? You can see in my member picture, posing with my brother at the Chrysler Pavilion was an awe inspiring day! Technology and space will always push the imagination. I'm not knocking the upcoming Expo but there better be cool prizes in the Happy Meals handed out!!

I must defend my earlier comment. I do not see it as political per se, but simply a statement of priorities. My point was surely not to open up a political discussion on the subject. I am the least political person around!

There's another film project in this vein, Mina Chow's "Face of a Nation: What Happened at the World's Fair" "A 1st generation Chinese-American architect asks why we no longer care about World's Fairs when once they captured our hopes for the American dream?" She's in the fundraising stage.

here's a radio interview with Chow and others:

We just started composing original music on our film FACE OF A NATION "What Happened to the World's Fair?"  Sorry it's taking so long.

I have to make sure it's good-- otherwise I might not be asked to make another one.  :))  We will be applying to festivals later this year.

It's a shame you missed a golden opportunity to release it for the 50th anniversary. The mainstream media was all over the 64/65 Fair in 2014/15.
