Updated plans for the Federal Court to move out of the U.S. Pavilion

Recommended Posts

Here is a link to an article printed in the San Antonio Express News yesterday on the city's plans to relocate the U.S. Federal Court from the old U.S. pavilion from HemisFair '68 into a new facility near the city's government district.

I hope San Antonio municipal government doesn't use this as an excuse to demolish the former U.S. Pavilion. I remember attending Hemisfair and being a bit disappointed that the Federal Pavilion wasn't as leading edge as the U.S. exhibit at Montreal the year before, but it was and remains a very elegant structure.

From what I've read, once the Federal Court moves out the property should be handed over to the city in exchange for the new property they are acquiring for the new location. I believe that the HemisFair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation may have some preliminary plans for the old U.S. Pavilion site.
