  1. Hoping someone can help me with this picture!

Hello folks! I am new here, but the World’s Fair is my all-consuming passion. I am heading to Queens this weekend to do another visit to the former Fair site and to see some of the surviving relics of the Fair. The above picture is one that I saw on a YouTube video about the Fair and I am trying to figure out where exactly in the park that is located! I thought I’d put it up here in hopes that you folks can help! Thank you!
  2. I got to Flushing Meadows 40 minutes early for the New York State Pavilion event and was number 650 on line. And the line got longer and longer. I know of one person that was over number 1300. and many more people came. Finally, the line had to be cut off and it looks like they'll do this again on May 18th. It was great going inside the pavilion and it was even greater seeing the tremendous turnout. While I went to the Fair 50 years ago, most people appeared to be too young to have gone. That says a lot about the lasting affect (and affection) towards the Fair and the New York State Pavilion.
  3. Just wanted to let everyone know about my forthcoming book, Tomorrow-Land: The 1964-65 World's Fair and the Transformation of America (Lyons Press) available now for pre-order at Amazon. It comes out on January 7, 2014—just six months for now. You can check out info about it, and the World's Fair, and all things Queens at my blog: http://jtirella.wordpress.com.
  4. Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and I thank those that administer for the World's Fair Community. I visited the 1964-'65 NY World's Fair many times and presently live within walking distance from Flushing Meadows Park. Since the 50th & 75th anniversaries of both New York World's Fairs are less than 2 years away, I'd like to know if there are any plans by the Queens Museum or any other organization? I have been in contact with the Walt Disney Organization and they said that they are aware of the anniversary, but they would not yet say what their plans were. Is there anyone that knows what (if anything) might be in the works? Thanks.
