Recreating The Fair in 3D

Recommended Posts

Thanks Joey. Hopefully Dr. Walters will have the Transportation Area ready for download soon, and everyone will be able to revisit the Fair. I still owe her a Lunar Lander and a "Space Shuttle" (more like an undersea explorer), and then I think Space Park Version 1.0 should be done...

Thanks Randy. I've modified the fountains so I finally have a "curtain of water" effect now, and the omni lights underneath make it really glow. Been trying to put together another video tour, so hopefully I'll have that done this week...

I received this 8 page "Building and Physical Plant" report from The Travelers Archives and thought someone might find it interesting (posted with permission). I converted the pdf file to JPEG files and added photos for clarity of scenes referenced on pages 5 and 6 (numbered 2 and 3).

Here's another item from the Archives called (at least as far as I can tell) "Script#8". The last few pages give an insight into the after-show area. If anyone has any memories of this area, please post.

This is really fascinating, Bradd. There were some real gems in there. It sounds like they didn't like their neighbors at the Hall of Education much. Can't say I blame them. Thanks for sharing this.

Any chance of getting the PDF version from you to save for posterity?

I reworked the 8 page "Building and Physical Plant" report above, and added pictures of the referenced scenes. Hope it is clearer and easier to understand now. Also, I heard back from Columbia University library, and they are checking the Kahn and Jacobs collection for documents of the Pavilion.

I always liked scene 8 the sound and visual were great and the rats added the macabre element a kid would be attracted to. The set designers took a page from Robert Campin's Annunciation triptych at the Cloisters, with the false perspective, location and close period 1350-1425.

Hi SWC, thanks for the reference! The Black Death scene scared the living @#$% out of me as a little kid, as I figured it was just a matter of time before it would happen to me. Funny how you think when you're 10...
