1893 Legacy - Chicago Tribune Tower

Recommended Posts

Spent last week in Chicago with my daughter and snapped a pic of this 1893 World's Columbian Exposition relic which is embedded in the face of the beautiful Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue (along with pieces of The Alamo, The Great Pyramid at Giza, The Colosseum, and dozens of other world landmarks). We actually featured the building as part of a giant evidence trail in an episode of CSI:NY a couple of seasons ago-- but I'd never noticed this particular World's Fair remnant before.

Thats neat, anyone know where it was during the fair? Even a guess, since I know records from that far back are hard to find nowadays.

It owuld be interesting to know where they found something permanent enough to preserve, since nearly all the buildings (except Fine Arts) were made of temporary plaster + fiber ("staff"), and were either demolished or burned accidentally.
