09 World's Fair Show And Sale Recap Pt 2

7 posts in this topic

As I entered the first of three romms that make up the show - right there in the middle is the much discussed sign-in book form the '39 fair:

Look inside and there are the signatures from the King and Queen of England from the first visit of English royalty, ever, to the US:

The display was so commanding that I hadn't really noticed all the treasures that surrounded me:

Lots of paper stuff:

...and, look, it seems that, even in '39, the seeds of the '64 theme were being planted:

anyone need a ticket to a Fair:

and, there, against one of the walls were some seats but they looked strangely familiar:

Ahh yes - formally the seating at the Chrysler Pavilian they live-on!:

Hi,

thanks - I was wondering what the show was like. Neat book. I used to have a candid snapshot of those very signatures being written with Grover smiling away as he watched. It has gone on to a new home - someone who can appreciate it much more than I.

Eric

Thanks. The book with the signatures of King George and Queen Elizabeth is a real coup. I am surprised that it left "official hands."
