Opening soon!

Recommended Posts

I just got my gonomad newsletter, which had this article about Zaragoza:

http://www.gonomad.com:80/destinations/080...n-zaragoza.html

Unfortunately, I won't be attending, although it looks like there might be a few really good exhibits and shows. It is a small fair (smaller than Seattle, I believe - my summer trip is, in fact, to Seattle and the region - will be staying a motel just two blocks from the site) and only goes through Sept. Here's the expo site:

Anyone planning to go?

Hi, for those interested in keeping up on what's happening at Expo 2008:

If you can read Spanish, the spanish language part of the official Expo 2008 site has much more written material and information than the English or French language parts.

Also, there are two Zaragoza newspapers with extensive Expo coverage on the web, but only in Spanish, They are:

http://www.heraldo.es/

and

http://www.elperiodicodearagon.com/

News has it that, while the site is doing O.K., there are two major probs - a trucker's strike has led to the delay of certain things getting to many exhibits and has led to the cancellation of a couple of big musical performances over the first weekend.

Also, a problem (either too much water or too little) in the Ebro River has led to the delay of the nighttime show that is to take place in the middle of the river.

Interesting problem, given that the entire theme of this Expo is Water.

Hi, the Expo opened today. Once again, those interested will find the most info about the opening on the Spanish language version of the expo site. Also, just found this site that has some neat photos of the construction of expo.

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=21283181 There are also an increasing number of great shots of the Expo now that it's open. This seems to be the website that the Zaragoza fans are flocking to for chat and photos.

And here is a second thread on the same site that has even more on the Expo: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=448302

Also, the NY Times carried a Reuters article on the opening. Here tis:

[url="http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/world/international-spain-expo.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=expo+2008+&st=nyt&oref=slogin"]http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/world/inter...amp;oref=slogin

I'm surprised the Times included it, as they didn't cover Aichi at all, except for two small articles in their Travel section.

Still won't be attending Zaragoza, but there are a few interesting looking exhibits, etc. Am saving my $ for Shanghai.

Also, just for comparison, Seattle 1962 was 74 acres and Zaragoza is 61 acres.
