This is just a Wikipedia article, but it is interesting especially about the runner (Hicks) who was helped across the finish line in the marathon (there is a photograph) and the person who won six medals although he had a wooden leg! And I did not realize that the St. Louis Olympics were the first to award gold, silver and bronze medals or that the games lasted four months with one competition per day.
