Subscription Renewel Help

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how I can renew my subscription membership to PTU? The link on my profile page lists zero dollars as the amount I need to pay, so I am unable to renew through that page.

Thanks,

Denise

Marc announced a couple of weeks ago that he was turning off the subscription feature, because the PTU till is overflowing and there is enough to keep it going for quite a while.

I'd rather continue to be a supporter, too, but Marc is pretty headstrong once he makes a decision.

He changed the deal during that discussion about people plugging other ventures in the "signature" at the bottom of posts.

Oh well... thank you Marc!

Please don't forget to support [url=http://nywf64.com/support01.shtml:12394]Bill'>http://nywf64.com/support01.shtml:12394]Bill Young's NYWF[/url:12394] web site too!

Bill has a number of ways you can help, from purchasing mechandise

to making donations.

For a lot of us, Bill's excellent web site was the gathering point in the

early years. He still maintains the definitive repository of New York

World's Fair information which is often used to support the PTU forums.

i have been a supporter in the past and would like to be so again. Is there an address where one may

send a contribution? This site means a great deal to me.

"QUOTE(Marc Williams @ Mar 10 2007, 01:03 PM)

I've turned off the subscription system. If you read back it was never meant to create a special class of members. Thank you to everyone who became a supporting member between 2003 and 2007."

I thought that is why it was changed, not the sig content.

Thanks for the reminder about Bill Young's site! I'd love to support his work and the contributions of so many people on that wonderful site. Love the new AMF avatar!

Both sites deserve to be supported by us.

I have just sent Bill my donation for 2007... I wish Marc would let me do the same.

I stop in here several times every day and the education and entertainment I've received over the last six years is immeasurable compared to the minimal investment Marc has allowed me to make through the Supporting Member status.

Marc, PLEASE turn the donation feature back on and let us help with your costs!

Doug

AMF, I love it! I couldn't have drew it better myself, except I would have used my GAR instead of an Escorter!

At something like $9.00 a minute, or whatever the fare was, the incentive would obviously have been for the driver to go as slow as possible.

The Escorters were very slow-moving vehicles. Even the big GM Greyhound buses had governors on them. We used to open them up in the unpopulated back stretch between Gate 7 and 8, pedal to the floor, maybe they would do 44. Once I made a "high speed" bus maneuver to avoid hitting a pigeon. The GAR's could move at a decent clip, considering the fact that they were going through dense crowds of people.

Hey, what happened to my post where I mentioned that I still have my own cartoon, c. 1964, parodying my job at the Fair? It vanished.

Anyway, that cartoon shows that I wasn't the only got who had it in for those Worlds Fair Pinkerton police, doesn't it!?

Stashed away someplace I have a big ol' contemporaneous Worlds Fair cartoon of my own that I drew parodying all the stuff that annoyed me at the time - the constant questions that everybody was always asking, the Greyhound supervisors, the Pinkerton Police, and i forgot what else. Maybe I'll scan and post it one of these years.

Funny stuff!

If the Escorters really could go that fast they would have been the hit of the Fair (no pun intended).

Yeah, they just crawled along. That guy must have took the governor off his motor!
