What's wrong with this picture?

Take a good close look and see if you can spot what's wrong with this view of Meadow Lake Gate and the Florida Pavilion:

It's a fine day, 3:30 in the afternoon, sometime in June 1964.

SO WHERE IS EVERYONE? Only two visitors in sight with orange leis, and they're LEAVING? Was everyone in NY at the beach or something?

Imagine how depressing a scene like this had to be to the Fair staff and backers.

It must have been a very nasty, windy cold June day. Check out the flags and the coats the people are wearing.

Actually, it had been announced in the newspaper the day prior, that Robert Moses would be on hand to personally greet all visitors at the gate.

Was there a hurricane in 1964?

The sky... the flags.... could that be why people stayed home that day?

The hours before the storm hit?

Then again, if there were a hurricane coming, would they have the flags down?

If I had to pick a day to 'dial in' on the time machine to go back for a visit, it would be a day like this, or worse weather-wise.

No lines!

Randy

I agree what a day to see the big attractions without waiting hours and hours.
