1970 - the former Great Britain pavilion looked great that year as the Montreal pavilion. Restored 35mm slide.

That's a good shot.  However, I missed the Union Jack after Expo.  I loved the UK pavilion and nothing else quite fit in there.

OK, does anyone else think "volcano" when they see that building?

The pavilion was designed by Sir Basil Spence, an architect from the UK.  The theme of the pavilion was "The Genius of Great Britain," and the unique tower symbolized "the UK's unfinished business in the world". The three dimensional Union Jack provided something of a beacon on Ile Notre Dame.  It was my favorite international pavilion probably because it was so remarkably unique in design and because I'm endlessly fascinated by British history.

I couldn’t agree more.
