USA Pavilion construction

Recommended Posts

I've been posting photos of some post-Expo views, but thought I would change things up and go in the opposite direction. Here's a construction shot taken December 1, 1966. It's interesting to see how far along some pavilions were while others were barely started. I also spotted a minirail train out on the track.

Great photo.  It's astounding to look at this scene and then consider how much was accomplished during the frigid Montreal winter.  Expo was ready to go just four months later.

I was there during opening weekend and the place, the entire fairgrounds, looked as if it had been there forever.  The entire place was spectacular and it's still quite remarkable to consider how well Expo met its deadlines and gave the world a finished product by opening day.
