1964 Tonight Show Open With World's Fair Footage

Recommended Posts

The entire first decade of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show when he was based in New York was wiped out of existence but occasionally fragments turn up.   Someone posted the open of the Tonight Show from August 24, 1964 in original color videotape quality and I post this here because substitute announcer Jack Haskell (filling in for Ed McMahon) refers to New York as "The World's Fair city" and the intro plays over color film footage of the Fair at night.

This was just posted two days ago by Cupaloy, so could the threads be combined please?

I have a question in the original thread about what pavilion is shown in one of the brief shots.

I wish more Carson shows opened with WF scenes. The Fair needed that sort of publicity boost.
