It's hard to believe that 30 years have passed since World Expo 88 opened in Brisbane. It was an amazing event which changed the city forever, and I have very fond memories as it is where my (now) husband and I used to hang out when we were dating. I've shared some of my old photos, my Expo passport, and other memories, in a post on my blog called "Why Expo 88 Means So Much to Me" which others may enjoy. I think it's important to record and share memories like these!

Was 1988 the last year the USA fully participated with a federally sponsored pavilion at a world's fair?

That might have been Expo 92 in Seville.  I know funding was greatly cut resulting in what was, to say the least, a very embarrassing entry.  It's possible that what funding materialized may have come from private and or corporate sources.  I'm not sure.
