magikbilly, March 16 in The 1939-40 New York World's Fair
It is interesting how closely the design of the Democracity diorama reflected the actual design plan of the Fair itself. The monumental towers of the center city, the boulevards radiating from that center city, the concept of designated industrial areas, residential areas, parklands, shopping areas etc. were all in keeping with the landscaping plans for the World of Tomorrow and its respective zones and that fact must have hit home to those exiting the Perisphere and walking down the Helicline as they looked over the design of the NYWF.
some early Tichnor postcards and renderings have the Theme Structure, later the T&P, as appearing very much like like this!
