August 1939: the Musician's Union strikes back against Elektro's purported ability to sing:

(it's incredibly bizarre, looking back after 78 years, that they took it as a serious 'threat'.  Of course after just 20 or 25 years, musicians like Phil Spector were embracing all the technology they could get.  Now they have software that can take any singer and give them perfect pitch (in a studio anyway).

Or Welles had it "right". I took that mural design to be much like the Focal Exhibit in the Chrysler building.
