A look back to August 23, 1981

Oxfam is a great organization,  I'm guessing this is La Ronde or just near it.  That's because of the red line mini rail but the huge trees say this as well.  There were no fully grown trees to speak of on Ile Notre Dame or Ile Ste. Helene (at least on the Expo part of the island) and it took decades for trees to grow.

Actually Jim, it's on St. Helen's Island, beside the old Holland pavilion

The mini rail had been repainted.  I had no idea the trees were that large by 1981.

They must have really enjoyed the Montreal weather.

Jim, here's a 1967 photo taken almost at the same place - it makes it easier to compare

Thank you, Roger.  I always enjoy shots showing how things change in a given area over time.  This is quite remarkable.  I remember visiting The Netherlands Pavilion.  It was a wonderful structure with, in 1967, dramatic views of the city.
