Japan Pavilion brochure and exhibit list

Recommended Posts

The exhibit list is particularly interesting.  In 1964, most of those companies were unknown to Americans.  Now, most of us have several of their products in our homes or garages.

What is really quite remarkable is that this pavilion came to fruition only 19 years after the devastating end of WW2.

Also interesting is how forward looking they were with regard to solid-state electronics and miniaturization. The RCA pavillion was all about color TV. But, when my folks got our first color set in 1969, it was a Panasonic.

That's a very good point, mrtobor.  In many ways, the same can be said about automobiles.  GM, Ford and Chrysler put on great shows in New York in 1965 but my first car, in 1971 when I was in my second year of college, was a Subaru.  Tens of million of Americans were doing the same thing in the 1970s.
