Bill Cotter, November 24, 2016 in The 1939-40 New York World's Fair
My mother worked at the Lawrence, Massachusetts YWCA as a coordinator of young women who worked in the textile mills during the 1939-'40 fair. She took a busload of girls to NY and the fair in both years. She was fair fan, having gone to Chicago in 1934 from McKeesport, PA as a teenager with her older sisters.
When I learned this later in life, I realized why she was so excited to take my sister and I to the 1964 & 1965 fairs!
