New member, wanting to learn about World's Fair History...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New member (no surprises there!) here, based in the United Kingdom.  I'm here representing the Train From Spain group ,a group of UK rail enthusiasts who have purchased and are restoring a locomotive used at the Ibero-American Exposition, Seville, in 1929.  Our website can be found here; http://trainfromspain.org/

As part of our project, I'm beginning work on a book on this history of our locomotive, covering the Seville Expo and the many other expos at which miniature trains of one sort or another ran at, providing not only an amusement but also a means of transportation around the large sites.  As such I'd be interested in any books which would be felt to give a good overview of the history and development of the world's fair concept, as well as any information about the Seville Expo that members may be willing to share!

A few photos of our machine to hopefully spark people's interest

This looks like a great project. Please keep us posted on your progress. I wish I had some information for you but I don't know anything about that exhibition.

We've had larger train enthusiasts come this way before. They were wondering who ate all the pies? (I hope this links you to a Coronation Scot thread)
