Recommended Posts

Does anyone have information on what has happened with the Quebec pavillion of Osaka World fair?

Has anyone seen this building in Japan (maybe Hokkaido??)

I should be aware that Quebec had an Expo 70 pavilion but I guess I never realized that it had.  It is sort of strange that it was represented but it may have been a result of Japan's presence at Expo 67 and/or because of the beginning of the Parti Quebecois, the separatist movement and the idea that Quebec should present itself as a player on the world stage.  Either way, the fact that it did have a pavilion is interesting.

The Quebec pavilion apparently was the hot place to go for staff members as they had a discotheque that opened around 6pm.  It was a huge hit and added a certain JE NE SAIS QUOI  to the festivities.

There is a great photo display of the pavilion on the EXPO 70 group page on Facebook.  Excellent shots of inside, the design models and the art.   Quebec knew the power of an Expo and wanted to capitalize on it.
