What a great shot! Its all looks so shiny and new. Thanks Bill.
Imagine Johnny, Mitch and crew painting that bugger fifty years later, had it been left standing?
Definitely one of the niftiest structures at the Fair.
Just musing -
The "Amusement" area could have been a real draw if more vacation-destination states had pavilions, and the Monorail had multiple stops. The "Monorail Tour of Vacation America" would offer more pavilions on the order of Florida and Hawaii, and the amusement rides could be interspersed and appropriately themed. And for heaven's sake, no "To Broadway with Love" when you have real Broadway a few miles away on the subway.
"See America by Monorail!" would have been a great slogan.
No arguments from me, Wayne.
Extend the monorail from Flushing Meadows to Manhattan? Local stops in Astoria and Roosevelt Island too, of course.
