Jaycopter

Recommended Posts

Found on CNN.com-- nice view of the second version of the Jaycopter (bigger, more powerful) with the gull-wing doors open. You can see the plastic bubbles housing the mini-Jaycopters too. The rotor blades are moving, but this camera had a fast enough shutter speed that you can also see just how short the rotor blades were, compared to an actual free-flight helicopter. And no need for a tail rotor, since this was a totally tethered operation so rotation was not an issue.

A bit of blue oversaturation but this is a nice photo, taken through a monorail window.

...playing with a little blue and cyan reduction and shadow reduction. Still needs some purple/red reduction on those white rooftoops. Funny that the CNN logo in the upper right went wacko when I did some digital shadow filling.

How's this one, Randy?

Was there a story with this?

Ragaje, the large Jaycopter had a pilot. You could "fly" the model ones under the overhanging roof behind it.

Those roofs look much better Bill! :)

Bill, the only story with it was that Robert Ondrovic seems to be a professional photographer, but recently he found a dozen or so pictures that his dad took at the Fair (obviously in '64). The others are 'typical' shots- not unusual like the Jaycopter....but most of those others have REALLY good color restoration on them.
