A bandstand I never noticed before

Recommended Posts

I was restoring a picture of some cars at Chrysler when I spotted a group performing in a venue I don't recall seeing before. Here's the full image:

and a close-up of the performance area:

This was in May 1965.

Any other views of this come to mind? (With that, Randy will now come back with his top 50 shots of that exact area!) :)

We have a topic on that bandstand already, with a closeup of a band playing there. Found it on some web page for a garage band. :)

By the way, that's a great picture of the 'levitating car' illusion that fooled me as an 8-year-old. Well, I knew that cars couldn't levitate, but I remember sitting in one of those Chrysler chairs for a long time while eating my lunch, trying to figure out how it worked.

Thoughts...

I wonder how fast the rocker panels on those cars rotted away after the Fair?

That's the Turbine Car track at the bottom right, right?

What's the tall building next to the bandstand, over the yellow Valient/Dart?

"Tall building" looks like Port Authority, unless I got turned around

Aha, I found it.

and it was started by the same picture... LOL

I do think at home I have another picture of a band playing on this stage.

People have researched and found the VINs of the Ford Magic Skyway convertibles, and traced some of them to their current owners, some of whom were completely surprised to found out that their car was once a "show car".

I wonder if anybody currently owns a Chrysler "spray car"? :)
