Hello,

Another two "new" images. Color slides this time, not b/w prints. This of the Trylon and Perisphere from The Avenue of Patriots in 1940.

And this, of the Theme Center in 1940.

Best wishes and enjoy :)

Thanks Bill :)

I was very glad to get them. I have about 15 more. Some duplicate interiors too, which in this lot were the weak shots!

Best wishes,
Eric

The first one has an amazingly long perspective of the T&P, which seems quite unique to me (but then, I am not a full time 1939 enthusiast). Thanks for posting these great shots.

Yep, makes me want to be there!  Raw, windy and rainy here today.  Ugh.

Was there controversy about the lumpiness of the surface of the Perisphere?  Did it get worse over the 2 years?  Was it smooth on opening day in 1939? Was it intentional as an architectural visual interest thing? I seem to remember we had some info on that subject, but I've forgotten.

The damage to the surface did get worse over time, and they had to cut back on the fountains to reduce the water contact.
