David Letterman Visits The Site Of The 1964/5 NY World's Fair

Recommended Posts

I remember a few years later when they went to a 'live' video feed on the Letterman Show, to watch 'Rocket Man' reenact a flight over the Unisphere.

Thanks to that Letterman link, I saw this Chunky candy commercial which debunks another of our closely held-misconceptions about the World's Fair. Apparently Chunkys (Chunkies?) weren't made at the Chunky pavilion! Only "Old Nick" and Chocolate Sponge" candy bars were, at least at the time of this commercial.

Whoops, Bill, it looks like your link changed to the Chunky link! Sorry!

Here's Bill's Letterman link again. (I don't know how to restore Bills in the posting)

I think several years ago on this board, Hoodlock told us that it was Old Nick that he always saw coming down the Chunky assembly line at the World's Fair. That topic can probably be found if we search on the word Chunky or Nick. He said it was the ingredients in the Old Nick bars that kept melting in the glass-enclosed assembly line, causing the Chunky People to build a new cover for the line to keep the sun off it. One of those discussion topics resulted in before-and-after photos of the rebuilt assembly line. Apparently they hadn't anticipated that much heat build-up inside the glass-enclosed conveyer line.
