Imaginary Photographs 1939/64

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I ran across this - I forgot about it. Doubt I can do much better - anyone else have any overlays laying around?

It is to scale as well.

Best wishes,

Eric

The Perisphere was 180 feet in diameter-- as opposed to the Unisphere, which measures at 120. It was also larger than EPCOT's Spaceship Earth, at 165. Expo 67's Biosphere is 250 feet in diameter-- but it's not a full globe-- which I believe makes the Perisphere still the largest ever constructed.

I would give just about anything to have one hour at the 1939 Fair and if all I was able to see was the Trylon and Perisphere I would be very happy.

Funny seeing that photo. I sat on a bench between the Unisphere and NYC bldg w AWOL PTUer Don Cavoli when he pointed out how impressive the larger Perisphere must have been.

I had not given it much thought, but just then I had a time travel moment and imagined the 1939 scene all around me.
