  4. A good friend alerted me to this fascinating story from Atlas Obscura about the Bell Telephone Pavilion at the 1939 New York World's Fair. I've read before about a breakthrough electronic voice technology showcased there by Bell Labs called THE VODER-- but until this article (which includes an embedded YouTube recording), I'd never actually gotten to hear the device "speak." Pretty cool stuff. Sounds of The Voder

  6. Excellent article by Jim Hill about the true Disney connection between the '64 New York World's Fair, Walt Disney World and ride systems at the Disney theme parks: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief1/b/jim_hill/archive/2014/04/27/from-the-jhm-archives-m-i-c-in-nyc-disney-at-the-1964-new-york-world-s-fair.aspx
  7. While at a car show I spotted a license plate with the World's Fair Unisphere logo. So I had to go over the owner and get all the details. Donny Paradiso had one of the Ford cars that took visitors along the Magic Skyway at the Ford Pavilion. Over the years and a previous owner, the car had beed modified. The interior fabrics had been restored and a custom "top" hides the back seat which still exists underneath. One thing was missing; the familiar narration voice of Walt Disney as well as the intro by Henry Ford Jr. So I offered Donny to make a CD containing a continuous look of the complete soundtrack of the pavilion ride including the narration for passengers to keep hands and arms inside the car and to disembark onto the moving platform. If is a Disney produced release of the track so the quality is direct from the original masters. I also shared with him links to the many websites about the fair and encouraged him to join our group meetings and to bring his Ford pavilion car back to its home for one day and display it on the site of the pavilion playing its soundtrack. His Facebook page, with many pictures of his extensive 50s-60s collection can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100006095053588&fref=ts&ref=br_tf
