  1. Tower of the Four Winds Replica Sculpture

Kind of hard to decide to buy it or not when you don't know the size or the price. Typical Disney (sigh).
  2. Tower of the Four Winds Replica Sculpture

Anyone know how big the statue is and how much it will cost?
  3. More Earth-Shaking Snippits

The Library of Congress does have the NBC show. I once looked into getting a copy, then had heart failure over the price - WAY high!
  4. Diving Right Into Pool Construction

Well, I looked but couldn't find the article about the elevator shaft but did find some others: 1) a A quote from the current issue of the Queens Tribune: Even though parkgoers at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park are seen here taking a break from the heat inside the recently re-opened Fountain of the Fairs, officials at the park have issued a warning against turning the fountains left behind from the 1964-65 World’s Fair into a makeshift swimming pool. John Feeley, director of public relations at Flushing Meadows, said "You’re not allowed to swim in there." Whenever possible the park patrol enforces these rules, he said. #2) An interesting piece on the park: <a href="http://www.queenstribune.com/archives/featurearchive/feature2001/0419/feature_story.html" target="_blank">http://www.queenstribune.com/archives/feat...ture_story.html</a>
  5. Diving Right Into Pool Construction

Do you have a link to that site, Ken?
  6. Diving Right Into Pool Construction

It would be interesting to see if they unearth anything from the Fairs as they dig. I imagine there's all sorts of stuff down there...
  7. If only they were worth this much...

    Amazingly, yes!
  8. Unisphere Credit Card (AMOCO/ VISA)

Here's the link for the card: <a href="http://www.bp.com/usfuelcards/cards.htm" target="_blank">http://www.bp.com/usfuelcards/cards.htm</a> Bill
  9. Theater That Never Was.....

Interesting article on the dig. Hey, do you think this sets a precedence and we can start digging our own holes next week? Let's all bring shovels and bail money to find out!
  10. 150-picture CD

Thanks for letting us know! Can you share the price? Bill
  11. Has anyone seen this video?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has actually seen this: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1140591454" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1140591454</a> Thanks! Bill
  12. Has anyone seen this video?

It's exactly that description about laying in ruins that made me stop before bidding. It makes it sound like the majority of the buidlings have been left to rot since 1965. There was just too much hyperbole in the description to make me want to fork out money for it until someone can tell me what's actually on the tape.
  13. Wow, another eBay bargain!

Better snap this one up before someone beats you to it: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1141641340" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...item=1141641340</a> I guess he's saying he has 25 of these, but they're no bargain at $10 each, and who could possibly need 25 of them??
  14. NYS Pavilion Quicktime Video...

What a great site! Thanks for pointing it out!
  15. He's Baaaaack!

Quite a drop in price! Let it drop another $100 or so and maybe it will go...
  16. Was there Lego at the World's Fair??

We have a very old Lego set from the early 60s, so it's possible that this is from the Fair. Consider the possibility that this was displayed at the Fair as a sign of what was coming - lots of manufacturers did that. Also, many of the foreign pavilions had vendors who did not make it in the guidebook!
  17. REDDY KILOWATT

Mary Ellen - I saw it up at City Walk here at Universal Studios. I will check the price next time I'm out that way.
  18. REDDY KILOWATT

I saw some Reddy Kilowatt nodding head dolls yesterday - I guess he's got a new agent and has hit the comeback trail!
  19. References to the Fair at Universal Studios Orlando

Those towers look great! I might just have to find a reason to go to Universal Florida and check out the ride. I'm working at Universal Hollywood and unfortunately our version of the theme park doesn't have this attraction.
  20. Latest eBay Rip-Off

What amazes me is that people have to pay eBay a listing fee based on price. Whatever the fee is for a $999 auction, he just threw that money away.
  21. Walt: The Man Behind the Myth

I thought I would pass on advance word about an upcoming ABC TV Special that has a segment about the Fair. The show, "Walt: The Man Behind the Myth", is a tribute to Walt Disney. It features interviews about Walt interspersed with rare home movies. Sponsored by the Disney family, it will run on ABC later this year. I had the pleasure of attending a screening last night, and it's a very moving work. Of interest to visitors to this forum is a segment on the building of the Fair. The reaction to Disney staffers when he told them he had added "It's a Small World" to their already booked schedule was great. You don't get to see a lot of the Fair, but there are some interesting snippets I hadn't seen before. Oh - you also get to see me. I'm the guy seen talking about Walt's entry into television. It was a real honor being part of this tribute. They even put me on the poster for the film! I'll post a date when I have it. Bill Cotter ps- for information on Disney television please stop by my website, <a href="http://www.billcotter.com" target="_blank">www.billcotter.com</a>. I will post details on this show in the next few days.
  22. New Ghost...

It's amazing to see how much that tree on the left has grown over the years. I imagine it's helpful to have things like the trees and street lights to help locate the then and now locations. Much of the park today is pretty featureless, at least to me.
  23. New Ghost...

These are GREAT! Just wondering what tools you're using to get the old and new photos in the same scale, and in overlaying them. Whatever you're using, the results are wonderful! It sure makes me wish there was a chance to see the real thing in place just one more time...
  24. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

That phone number, in return, is listed to Andrea Osterczy. Any of these names ring a bell with anyone? <blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by billcotter: The seller e-mail on this bargain=priced collection of rare items is mailto:alphacar@bellatlantic.net.
