1893 Grover Cleveland Visit Medal. Struck to commemorate President Grover Cleveland's visit to the World's Columbian Exposition and United States Mint Exhibit on May 1st 1893. Not sure if these were issued only on the day of his visit or continued as a souvenir item. The number of known examples would suggest a fairly limited distribution. -

I've seen countless postcards of the Flip-Flap, and MECCANO even included it in their construction kits until 1916, but this is the first medal I've found. Only 17 mm diameter.

Thanks Randy. Bill, I'm still researching something that I believe to be very scarce. From the Great Exhibition and possibly only one other known. Give me a week or so and I'll show it here.

Thanks for the welcome. I think that I've only ever seen one RCA medallion, they do seem scarce, which probably indicates limited distribution so the VIP guests and maybe journos idea could work. I,ve not yet figured out how to upload images yet, so here's one of my old Facebook albums. It holds probably 10% of my hoard. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1464013727172470.1073741830.1450694295171080&type=3

Hi, I'm bagerap, otherwise known as Bob. I collect exhibition medals and calendar medals and I must be a little hard of thinking because after years of collecting it's only just dawned on me that there must be a forum for obsessives like me. Like a lot of people, I started with the Great Exhibition but soon moved onto the hard stuff, Paris, Antwerp, Toronto and all points west. Like many junkies, I sometimes sell a bit to pay for my habit, but that's mainly from my coin and token collections. The good stuff stays with me! Hope to be talking with some of you soon. Bob
