I wonder how people picked this as their career path
TOTHEFAIR replied to Bill Cotter's topic in Transportation Area
I agree with you on that Jim. I have even wondered why that would be in the transportation area, and not the AMF Monorail. The monorail was one of the best demonstrations of future transportation at the fair. -

I wonder has many of those guys made it to social security. And why would anybody go to a world’s fair and then head to a cheap county fair attraction. I don’t get it. -
Sculpture, USA, and USSR from Pulp & Paper, June 1967
Jim replied to Bill Cotter's topic in 1967, Montreal, Canada - Expo 67
Great shot. It does make it appear that the USA and USSR pavilions were right next to one another. Look at that incredible crowd of people including what I suspect are several Pulp and Paper guides. - Yesterday

Newly restored 35mm slide. The grass was looking pretty ratty!

It's a hobby turned into fast cash for the summer. I bet it helped get them through college :). I wouldn't be shocked for at least one or two doing that. -
No, you walked from one room to another as I recall.

I don't remember the live show with music and screens but I do remember standing for the chemical show. Was there a rotating stage?

March 25 marks the 113th anniversary of this terrible tragedy in NYC. Not fair related but important to remember.
-
PS: it was created by Goldfarb Expo Souvenir Corporation, NYC. Below is an image of their souvenir catalogue.

Speaking of Ford, this was sent to me by a friend who found it among her late parents’ treasures. There is an image of Ford just to the left of the Unisphere. The thermometer still works.

A seldom-seen part of the Fair - the pond at Julimar Farms

I just noticed, it gives me a better feel for the outside of the Better Living Center. The photographer grabbed a peaceful serene area of the fair with the great exhibits surrounding it. It took me a while to realize what exact spot that was. Mr. Young's Time Life Map doesn't do it justice. -

Thanks. I always enjoy coming across things that are new to me. -
They are sneaky!!!

What a beautiful exposition that was. I’d guess this was home made simply because there are some unprofessional scenes such as in the early footage, a man with a wide brimmed hat blocks the camera view of a performer in the distance. Regardless, whoever captured these scenes was an artist. This film is quite wonderful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I just saw them too right after thinking “what, no nuns?”.

More nuns! Ha.

That's a great catch. Lovely touch up, Bill!
